Matthew
has enjoyed a successful career guiding companies through the
often confusing maze of contracts, transactions and intellectual
property law. His ability to streamline legal practices and
serve as a strategic advisor on legal and business issues, has
led to important strategic relationships for each of the companies
in which he has worked or represented.
Matthew served as General Counsel for Chrome Systems Corporation until its recent acquisition by DealerTrack, Inc. In May of 2005, Matthew completed the sale of Chrome to DealerTrack (TRAK), which became a public company in December 2005 and continued to provide counsel to the DealerTrack Data Services business unit that included Chrome and Automotive Lease Guide (alg) and several other companies. In this role, he led a team that was responsible for licensing data and software products, as well as identifying and protecting intellectual property assets. In addition, Matthew served as an advisor on a variety of corporate issues including: acquisitions, strategy, human resources, litigation and corporate governance. He was actively involved in the management of the companies and was instrumental in the development of strategic relationships with several companies including National Automotive Dealers Association, DaimlerChysler and General Motors.
Prior to joining Chrome, Matthew served as General Counsel and Director of Strategy for Velagio, Inc., a mobile data and software integration company. In private practice, he advised clients in the areas of domestic and international venture capital, sports and entertainment representation and real estate development.
Matthew is also an active member of his community. He serves
on the Executive Committee of the Corporate Counsel Section
and recently completed a term with the Pro Bono Committee of
the Oregon State Bar. He is also the Past President for the
Oregon Road Runners Club, a non-profit organization that promotes
running and walking for health, fitness and fun.
