2007 in Review

 

 

We saw our best year ever…. and worked on many high profile financings and acquisitions – including the sale of clients to Google and Ingram Micro.  The pipeline is full, and the companies and investors we work with in the Valley and Pacific Northwest continue to be very active.  Also, the firm purchased an office building in downtown Redwood City this past year – and will move our Silicon Valley office to that new location in June 2008.  We will provide you with updates as we get into the New Year.

Visiting Hours Program  

Beginning January 2008 we will expand our “Visiting Hours” program to companies that are members of the EDA Consortium, in addition to members of the SD Forum as is now the case.  Also, we will be organizing a new quarterly event with the SD Forum next year called  “The Real Enchillada!” - stay tuned for more information on this.

Congratulations to our client mFoundry, Inc. for successfully completing its Series C financing for up to $15 million. The round was led by Motorola Ventures and new investors included: PayPal, Inc., NCR Corporation and a leading wireless operator, along with existing investors.

Atria Genetics
acquired by Celera for $33M.
 

White & Lee represented Atria Genetics, Inc. in the acquisition of substantially all of its assets by Celera (NYSE:CRA), a division of Applera Corporation, for approximately $33 million in cash. Atria developed a line of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) testing products that are used for identifying potential donors in the matching process for bone marrow transplantation. Silicon Forest Forum (Portland and Hillsboro, Oregon)


Silicon Forest Forum is a two-session advanced technology management conference organized by White & Lee and Intel Capital. The conference features leading investors, bankers, service providers and entrepreneurs from the Pacific Northwest and Silicon Valley. They share their ideas and observations on critical issues companies must address to be successful. Silicon Forest Forum is the Pacific Northwest's only "operations focused" program designed for experienced management teams looking for the latest information on how to grow companies in the current market.


Executive Leadership Series (Menlo Park, California)


Executive Leadership Series is a case study-based educational program organized by White & Lee, the Software Development Forum (SDForum) and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The program is designed to provide senior-level executives (CEO's, COO's, VP's) with highly interactive discussions on issues, trends and problems that confront mid- and later-stage company management teams, investors and directors.


Soup to Nuts (San Jose, California)


Soup to Nuts was a four-session seminar series for entrepreneurs organized by White & Lee and the SDForum. A precursor to the Executive Leadership Series, Soup to Nuts was one of the most successful programs at the SDForum.


HotMail founder Sabeer Bhatia attended the Soup to Nuts series when he was trying to raise money for HotMail, and has subsequently succeeded in selling his company to Microsoft.
